Invoice finance for transport and logistics

Haulage is capital intensive. Fund your weekly fuel bills, wages, and fleet maintenance while waiting 60 days for your customers to settle freight invoices.

Bridging the haulage cashflow gap

Weekly outflows

Fuel cards and drivers require prompt payment. Releasing capital from your invoices helps ensure operations run smoothly.

POD driven

The logistics sector generates clean, signed Proof of Delivery documentation—exactly what lenders need to release funds securely.

Insolvency protection

Protect your margins against the risk of a major retailer or manufacturer collapsing while owing you freight fees.

Managing the Proof of Delivery (POD) process

In transport invoice finance, the speed of funding is heavily dependent on the quality of your POD process.

If a driver drops a load, gets a signature, and instantly uploads a digital POD via a transport management system, the invoice may be funded quickly, subject to facility terms. If you rely on physical paperwork returning to the depot at the end of the week, your funding will be delayed.

Common disallowance risks:

  • Damaged goods noted on the POD (leading to a partial dispute).
  • Late delivery penalties applied by the customer.
  • Missing signatures or illegible paperwork.

Sector-specific limitations

Fuel surcharges

Ensure your invoicing systems clearly separate or define variable fuel surcharges, as unpredictable invoice values can complicate funding.

Concentration risk

Many hauliers rely on one or two major supermarket or manufacturing contracts. If one client represents 70% of your revenue, you must negotiate high concentration limits.
